![]() Difficulty with attention can negatively affect academic performance and peer relationships. Education and family are pillars upon which a child’s future is based. Academic success leads to a solid self-concept, positive self-esteem, self-confidence, and motivation. Academic difficulty leads to low self-concept, low confidence, low self-esteem, and underachievement. ADD/ADHD children often struggle in the classroom; however, these struggles can be viewed as opportunities to learn. The manner in which difficulties are handled within the classroom and at home can make a difference in a child’s life. The ADD/ADHD Diagnostic and Treatment Center’s philosophy is based on a multimodal approach that offers the child opportunities to learn behaviors that lead to success. One of the goals is to instill a spirit of cooperation and collaboration between family and school. The message to the child is, “We are here to help you succeed.” |
